The Goal Is Freedom

The Goal Is Freedom

Remember that the goal is Freedom, yours, ours, mine. We can stand by and watch this nation become another Russia or we can stop it. This nation was founded on Godly principles, “In God We Trust.” Although those principles have skewed, we are still one of the best countries in the world. Lord knows we are not perfect, but we prefer living here more than any other place in the world even with all his problems.

We have problems with the government, local, state, and federal. Lately crime rates have increased in our cities. Most of it is gun crime. In fact, we are eyewitnesses to gun crimes most days on the news. Yet, we have the legislative body submitting and passing bills that would allow anyone to purchase a gun if they are over the age of eighteen, without a background check, or waiting period. Open-carry or concealed is still a problem.

We all know that there are some people who do not need access to guns. We also know that there are responsible gun owners and irresponsible gun owners. Surely, we can agree that we need to pass legislation that addresses the gun problem without taking away anybody is right to own one. Since we know that there are other countries that have solved this problem, we have an example of how it works. If we make the commitment to solving the problem the world that we leave our children will be much safer. The question is, do we really want to solve the problem or are we okay with our children being shot at almost daily.

Let us discuss healthcare and the tangled web it is. For one it is too layered, complicated, and expensive. In the wealthiest country in the world, we should have Universal Healthcare. Those who oppose can buy their own, but every American should have healthcare, period.

What about Homelessness? Can we be real, there are those of us who think it is okay to sleep in the street on the sidewalk, at the bus stop or on a park bench. How inhumane is that? Everybody should have a place to live. A place of their own. Home is where the healing begins. These are people who have experienced the most degrading thing that can happen to a person. Causing emotional and physical trauma from which they may never heal. They are expecting us to create a solution to these problems instead of arguing over what constituents affordable housing as we continue to build more housing that is not affordable.

We all know that housing is not affordable, ask someone who must move constantly because they cannot locate affordable housing or face being evicted. That act alone will plummet your self-esteem and confidence fast. My suggestion is to look at those entities that have successfully alleviated homelessness and do that.

Lastly, our democracy is in jeopardy. We have allowed lies and hate to sway our opinion so that we honestly believe that what is happening now is right. However, we thought it was going to hurt someone else that we do not like but God don’t like ugly. I don’t know about you, but I like being free. It seems that some are willing to live in a communist country under a dictator rather than speaking up. Specifically, those who have positions of power. Regardless of our dislikes and disdain for each other we can surely agree that being free is better than the alternative.

We have problems regarding race. Whether we like it or not we are a part of the human race. In my lifetime, what I have discovered is that most people are decent regardless of their race. My circle of personal friends and acquaintances is diverse. Communicating with them is a delight for the soul. Listening to a different perspective allows me to hear how others think without judging why they think that way. It has nothing to do with who I am and what I believe about my purpose in the world. Our primary role as people of God is to love our neighbors as ourselves. If we can accomplish this our world will be better and our democracy will continue.

We have problems with telling the truth because we have a history of sugar coating the truth with our view of what really happened. Slavery would be one incident. Then we pass on this misinformation to our children, who take our word for it because they trust us to tell them the truth. At some point, they form an opinion on this misinformation which often leads to mass killings, other crimes, and unnecessary legislation. Keep in mind this is my observation and life experience. What I know for sure is that the Bible and other biblical teachings reveal what truth is and what it's not. Now we are treating lying as normal, especially when it benefits our agenda.

We have embedded beliefs about each other that are not true. For instance, there are some who think this is their country, they own it. News Flash!! The truth of that matter is it is the Indians. It was their country before we invaded it. So, the rest of us are immigrants. Whether we were brought here or born here. God did not die and leave you in charge. If he wants to purge a race he can purge a race. So, if we are still here it means that we are here for a reason, and you cannot change that.
